I came across the most delicately annotated book on the various flowers of Syria. Hand-drawn diagrams in pink, thorough descriptions and on the inside cover; a woman standing in a field of flowers. What surprised me most was the book was written by an army general, and the woman inside the book was his wife. How fascinating; the dichotomy of man. Even the most unlikely of characters can exercise tenderness in love.
